Today sees the third African Cup of Nations quarter final, with the two most successful African sides of the last decade locking horns. Cameroon had a fantastic start to the 2000`s, winning the Cup of Nations in 2000 and 2002 as well as finishing runners-up in the 2003 Confederations Cup. However, Egypt were the dominant African team towards the end of the decade, winning back to back Cup of Nations in 2006 and 2008.
Yesterday`s quarter-finals saw a huge shock as the favourites for the tournament, Ivory Coast, were knocked out by Algeria in injury time. The other match saw hosts Angola knocked out by Ghana. Egypt are favourites for the match, priced at 29/20 (bet £29 to make £20 profit), while Cameroon are close behind at 21/10. The teams are 9/4 to be drawing at the end of 90 minutes.
Egypt are odds-on to qualify from the tie, priced at 3/4, while Cameroon are at 6/5. If the match goes all the way, both teams are priced at 8/1 to win on penalties.
The match is expected to be very close, with a 1-1 draw the favourite 90 minutes score at 11/2. A 1-0 win for Cameroon is next at 13/2, followed by a goalless draw at 17/2. A 1-0 win for Cameroon is also at 17/2, and a 2-0 and 2-1 win for Egypt are both at 10/1. A 2-1 win for Cameroon is at 11/1, and a 2-0 win is at 14/1.
On the half time / full time market, the favourite spot is Egypt / Egypt, priced at 7/2. Draw / draw is next, at 4/1, with draw / Egypt at 9/2. Cameroon / Cameroon is at 5/1, ahead of draw / Cameroon at 6/1. Egypt / draw and Cameroon / draw are both at 14/1, with Cameroon / Egypt at 28/1, and Egypt / Cameroon at 40/1.
Cameroon`s talismanic captain Samuel Eto`o is favourite to open the scoring, priced at 11/2, followed by Egypt`s Mohammed Zidan at 13/2. Mohammadou Idrissou, who plays for Freiburg in Germany, is at 8/1 to score first for Cameroon, with Pierre Webo at the same price.
Following the elimination of Ivory Coast, Egypt have been made favourites to claim the trophy for the third time in a row, priced at 11/4. Cameroon are slightly behind at 5/1. The winner of this match will take on the winner of the match between Zambia and Nigeria.
