ATP World Tour Finals - Rafael Nadal vs Nikolay Davydenko
By Harry Maude on 2009-11-25 19:30:14
Rafael Nadal will tonight try to get his World Tour Finals campaign back on track, after he was soundly beaten by Robin Soderling on Monday. He lost in straight sets to the Swede, and has generally looked out of touch since his return from injury. Soderling leads the group after his win over Novak Djokovic earlier today, and looks set to advance to the semi finals.
Nadal`s poor form means that Davydenko is favourite for the match, priced at 5/6. Nadal is priced at 11/10 for the win.
Davydenko is 2/1 to win in straight sets, and 10/3 to win 2-1. Nadal is 14/5 to win 2-0 and 7/2 to win 2-1.
Nadal has a poor head to head record against Davydenko (by his standards), winning four of their seven contests. The last time these two met was in the final of the Shanghai Masters, which Davydenko won 7-6, 6-3. Davydenko reached the final of this event last year, where he lost to Novak Djokovic, and despite losing his opening match to the Serb, he looked threaten and will still be gunning for a semi final place.
After his Australian Open win at the beginning of the season, Nadal has not had a fantastic season, losing both his French Open and Wimbledon crowns to Roger Federer. He has not been strong since returning from injury and has won only one of his last ten encounters against top ten opposition.
Nadal and Davydenko are both priced at 20/1 for the tournament.
