NBA Playoffs Betting Update

The Cleveland Cavaliers are favourites to win the NBA Finals this season despite their home defeat to the Boston Celtics in game two of their Conference Semi-Finals series. LeBron James and his team-mates went down by eighteen points, being outscored 31-12 in the third quarter, to level the series. However, the bookmakers do not seem too concerned for the Cavaliers and Cleveland remain the market leaders at 11/5. The Celtics, Champions in 2008, are 14/1.
Following Cleveland in the betting are the LA Lakers at 12/5 with Boylesports. Led by Kobe Bryant, the Lakers lead their series with the Utah Jazz 2-0 and travel to Utah for game three on Saturday. The performances of key players will decide how close this series gets but if Bryant, who scored eleven points in the final four minutes of game one, is at his very best, there may be little the likes of Deron Williams can do about it. The Jazz are given very little chance of a Championship this season and are 66/1 with Betfred.
One of the more surprising results in recent post-seasons was the Orlando Magic`s 71-114 annihilation of the Atlanta Hawks. The Magic, seen as something of an unknown quantity, turned on the style as Dwight Howard recorded twenty-one points, twelve rebounds and five blocks. Orlando`s odds of a surprise Championship were, understandably, cut after the game and Stan James now offer the best price at 11/4. Atlanta were exposed in the game and they are now generally available at 100/1.
An intriguing series is under-way on the West Coast as the San Antonio Spurs face the Phoenix Suns. Steve Nash has led the Suns to victories (102-111 and 102-110) in the first two games in Phoenix but both teams have been much stronger at home than on the road and San Antonio can level the series if they can get a result on their own turf. The Suns are given a much better chance of success this season at 10/1, with their opponents 28/1 with Betfred, but that could well change after games three and four.
There are several genuine contenders for the NBA Championship this year and there should be a fascinating Finals series to come in June.
