NBA Basketball betting update

The NBA regular season is nearing its conclusion and the playoffs are drawing near. April 17th is when it gets serious for the top teams with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Cleveland Cavaliers currently setting the pace in the race to the NBA Championship.
The Cavaliers, led by their talisman LeBron James, are favourites to lift the Larry O`Brian Championship trophy this year at 2/1 (bet $100 to win $200 profit). Cleveland, on a seven-game winning streak, have won an excellent 79% of their games so far and have built on their home form to become the first team in the league to clinch their division.
The only other team to have clinched a playoff spot in the East is the Orlando Magic, who are priced at 15/2. The magic have gone 50-21 so far this season and have the league`s second best points difference at +7.1. They are in particularly good shape at the moment and have now won nine of their last ten games, bouncing back from their defeat to the Bobcats with back-to-back wins over the Spurs and the Miami Heat. Orlando are 15/2 to win the Championship this season.
The 2008 Champions, the Boston Celtics, are another of the East`s potential champions. The Celtics have struggled with injuries this year but have a strong record at 45-25 and the league`s second-meanest defence, giving up only 94.4 PPG. Boston`s divisional record is second only to Cleveland at 11/1 they are fourth favourites.
The Easter Conference is not short of talent but the Western Conference has challengers of its own. The defending Champion LA Lakers, who are 13/5 with Ladbrokes, have a record of 52-18 and while Cleveland have LeBron, the Lakers have Kobe Bryant. LA are on a six-game winning streak but may be concerned about being outscored 32-17 in the fourth quarter of their win over the Wizards on Sunday.
Also coming out of the Western Conference are the Denver Nuggets and the Dallas Mavericks, at 12/1 and 18/1 respectively. Denver are the league`s second highest-scoring team with 107.5 PPG, better than anyone in the Eastern Conference, and are in hot form after winning eight of their last ten games. Dallas have lost their last two but are 7-3 in their last ten with an overall record of 46-24 so far.
The Eastern Conference are seen as the stronger of the two by the bookmakers, who offer 7/10 that the winner of the NBA Finals comes from the East and 4/5 that a Western team comes out on top.
