By Matt Knowles on 2010-01-20 18:57:58
Blackburn travel to Aston Villa tonight in the second leg of the Carling Cup semi-finals trailing 1-0 from the first leg. Rovers have struggled recently, with just one win in their last thirteen games in all competitions, but will be lifted by their 2-0 win over Fulham last time out. Villa have won two of their last five, both against their opponents tonight.
The hosts are favourites for the game at 8/11 ($110 to win $80 profit), leaving Blackburn as underdogs at 9/2. The draw, which would send Villa through, is available at 13/5, but the hosts have drawn only one of their last nine matches.
The bookmakers have made a 1-0 win for Aston Villa the most likely score for tonight`s game at 6/1 with a 1-1 draw at 13/2. A 2-0 win for the hosts is at the same price and a 0-0 draw is available at 11/1. A surprise 1-0 win for Blackburn is at 12/1 and would send the tie into extra time.
Gabriel Agbonlahor has been made favourite to open the scoring tonight at 9/2, ahead of John Carew at 11/2,England striker Emile Heskey at 6/1, and the in-form James Milner at 8/1. Benni McCarthy is seen as Blackburn`s best chance of scoring the first goal of the game, priced at 9/1.
Aston Villa have been made favourites for the Carling Cup this year at 8/15 as they hold a lead in their tie, which means Blackburn are the least likely team to lift the trophy at 20/1.
