Carling Cup betting preview - Chelsea vs Bolton
By Matt Knowles on 2009-10-28 18:00:09
The last place any side would want to go right now is Stamford Bridge unfortunately for Bolton that is where they are headed tonight in the fourth round of the Carling Cup. Chelsea have been on exceptional form at home this year, winning all eight of their home games in all competitions, including 4-0 and 5-0 thrashings of Athletico Madrid and Blackburn in their last two matches. Bolton also had a good weekend, beating Everton in a 3-2 thriller.
Chelsea are, as expected, heavy favourites for tonight`s game, priced at 1/3 (bet $30 to win $10 profit). Bolton are underdogs at 11/1 and the draw is 4/1. Last season Chelsea won both meetings, winning 2-0 away and 4-3 at Stamford Bridge.
A 2-0 win for the hosts has been made the most likely score in this game at 11/2. 1-0 is next at 7/1 and 3-0 is at 8/1. A2-1 is 17/2. 3-1 to Chelsea and 1-1 are the next most likely scores at 11/1 and a shock 1-0 upset win for the visiting underdogs is priced at 25/1.
Didier Drogba is favourite to open the scoring tonight at 7/2, along with French strike partner Nicholas Anelka. Frank Lampard, who has three goals in his last two games, and Saloman Kalou who has two, are both 11/2. Also at 11/2 is Daniel Sturridge, who may be in line for a start as this is the Carling Cup and Drogba and Anelka may be rested. Kevin Devies, at 10/1, represents Bolton`s best chance of scoring the first goal tonight.
Chelsea are odds-on at 10/11 to be winning at half-time and full-time and 7/2 to win at full-time despite going into the break level. Both halves to be drawn is priced at 15/2 and Bolton are 20/1 to be winning at both half-time and full-time. Chelsea to lead at half-time only to see Bolton snatch a draw is 25/1.
Carlo Ancelotti`s men are favourites to lift the Carling Cup this year at 4/1. Bolton are not rated as highly, at 66/1, but a win tonight would definitely see that shorten considerably.
