UEFA Champions League betting - Inter Milan vs Chelsea

Jose Mourinho`s will be the centre of attention tonight as his Internazionale team welcome Chelsea to the San Siro. Mourinho, who dubbed himself `The Special One` during his time at the club, led Chelsea to consecutive Premier League titles in 2005 and 2006, their first since 1955, and is still missed by many at Stamford Bridge, including many senior players. When he arrived in Italy at Internazionale he said that he would `always, always, always support Chelsea but if Chelsea meet Inter in the Champions League then I won`t know any of them.`
The hosts go into the game as slight favourites at 17/10 (bet £100 to win £170 profit), leaving Chelsea as underdogs at 2/1 with Betfair. However, Inter have been poor recently, failing to win any of their last three and drawing their last two games 0-0. Chelsea have won three of their last four games in all competitions but have been vulnerable away from home at times this season and will need to be at their best tonight. The draw is available at 11/5 with Stan James and could be interesting given the recent record of the home side.
The bookmakers believe that the two teams are very similar and have made a 1-1 draw the favourite score for the game at 11/2. Both sides are available at 7/1 for a 1-0 win with Totesport, with Bet365 offering 15/2 that the match ends goalless, as Inter`s last two matches have. It may also be a priority of Mourinho`s to avoid conceding an away goal in the first leg of the tie. A 2-0 win for Chelsea, which would almost end the tie as a contest, is priced at 12/1.
Diego Milito has been made favourite to open the scoring tonight at 6/1, ahead of Samuel Eto`o at 13/2, the same price as Ivorian striker Didier Drogba, who has hit twenty-seven goals already for Chelsea in all competitions and scored twice in Saturday`s 2-0 win over Wolves. Mario Balotelli and Goran Pandev are both priced at 7/1 and Nicholas Anelka is available at 8/1 with Ladbrokes.
The half-time/full-time market is further evidence of the similar ability of the two sides, with draw/draw and Inter/Inter both priced at 4/1, with Chelsea 9/2 to lead at both the interval and the final whistle. The bookmakers offer 11/2 on both teams to win after the scores are level at half-time. The sides may well go in at half-time drawing as neither will want to give anything away in the first leg of the tie and may try to feel each other out in the early stages.
Chelsea have been made second favourites to win the Champions League this season at 9/2, behind only Barcelona. Inter, at 14/1, are not among the top favourites due to the difficulty of their opponents in this round. However, should they get through, they will surely be back among them and nobody will want to draw them in the ext stage of the tournament.
