Burnley host Stoke tonight in the Premier League desperate for points as the end of the season relegation fight gets under way. The hosts are currently second from bottom in the table but are only one point behind Wolves in 17th place. Stoke have struggled away from home but are safe from the drop in eleventh place.
The hosts are favourites for the game at 6/4 (bet £40 to win £60 profit), leaving Stoke as underdogs at 11/5 with Victor Chandler. Burnley have now lost eight of their last nine matches and will find it hard to break down Stoke, who have tasted defeat just once in eight league matches. However, the visitors have bee poor away from the Britannia Stadium, winning just twice in thirteen attempts. The draw is 12/5 with Skybet.
The game looks as if it could be a close one and the bookmakers have made a 1-1 draw the most likely result at 6/1, followed by a 1-0 win for Burnley at 7/1 and 1-0 to Stoke at 15/2. A 0-0 draw is 17/2 with Victor Chandler and a 2-0 win is 12/1 for Burnley and 14/1 for Stoke. Last time the teams met Tony Pulis` side beat Burnley 2-0.
Jamaican striker Ricardo Fuller has been made favourite to open the scoring tonight at 13/2, followed by the Burnley trio of Paterson, Nugent and Fletcher, all available at 7/1. James Beattie is 8/1 with Bet365 to do the honours this evening and former Middlesbrough man Tuncay, of Turkey, is at 9/1 with the same firm.
Burnley are 7/2 to lead tonight at both half-time and full-time and 5/1 to win the match after drawing at half-time. The bookmakers offer 4/1 that both halves end in a draw and Stoke are 9/2 to be winning at both the interval and the final whistle. Draw/Stoke is available at 6/1 with William Hill.
Burnley are in real danger of playing Championship football next season and they are now just 1/2 to be relegated. Stoke are effectively safe at 80/1 for the drop.
