Spanish Copa del Rey betting - Real Madrid vs Alcorcon
By Matt Knowles on 2009-11-10 18:00:33
Real Madrid will be eager for revenge tonight as they welcome third-tier Alcorcon to the Santiago Bernabeu in the Copa del Rey. Under normal circumstances Real Madrid fans worldwide would take for granted not only a win, but a very comfortable win, against such a side. However, these are troubling times for Los Merengues, who have won only two of their previous six games and two weeks ago lost 4-0 to the very minnows they face tonight. They will be boosted by the fact that they won their last game against Atletico, but their rivals are not the force they once were with only one win all season, and the narrow margin of victory can only be a concern for the famous men in white.
As expected, Real are very heavy favourites indeed, priced at 1/16 (bet $160 to win $10 profit) to rekindle some of the fans` faith in them and their manager, who is likely to put out a strong side and make sure they do just that. Alcorcon are 28/1 to shock the world a second time and win tonight at the Bernabeu in what would only be their second ever match against top-flight opposition (their first being the other leg of this tie). The draw is priced at 12/1.
The bookmakers expect a comfortable win for Real Madrid and make 4-0 and 3-0 the joint-favourite scores at 6/1., ahead of 2-0 at 8/1 and 5-0 at 9/1. A 6-0 thrashing is 14/1. A 1-1 draw, catastrophic for Madrid, is at 33/1 and an unthinkable 1-0 away win is available at 125/1.
Real Madrid will want to score as many goals as possible tonight which will mean committing a lot of men forward, and they are not famous for their defending at the best of times. Alcorcon have shown that they can hurt the hosts, and it is evens that more than 4.5 goals are scored in the match, 5/6 that under 4.5 goals are scored.
The home side are 1/4 to be winning at both half-time and full-time tonight and will definitely look to hit the ground running. Draw/Madrid is 9/2 and draw/draw is 25/1. Alcorcon to take a shock half-time lead only to lose at full-time is 50/1.
Although they must overcome a four-goal deficit tonight to progress to the next round, Real are 13/2 to win the Copa del Rey this year, behind only Sevilla and Barcelona.
