Copa del Rey: Mallorca vs Athletic Bilbao Odds and Betting Preview

PALMA, SPAIN - Mallorca host Athletic Bilbao in the second leg of their Copa del Rey Quarter-Final tie with the islanders looking to overcome a 2-0 deficit from the first leg last week. Mallorca are best at 9/5 (bet £5 to win £9) with Ladbrokes to win the tie tonight, while Athletic are also 9/5 with Coral to increase their aggregate advantage. With nothing really to choose between the prices, punters may want to back the draw at 23/10, only with Betfred and Bet Victor.
Athletic won the first leg 2-0 and the Basque side are 11/1 with Boylesports and Bodog to have another 2-0 victory against Mallorca. 1-0 to the away side is 15/2 with bet365, while you can back the 2-1 win for Athletic at 10/1 only with Betfred.
6 places but only 4 points separates the two sides in the league, with Bilbao in 7th place and Mallorca in 13th place. Mallorca have already hosted Athletic at home in the league this season, drawing 1-1 with them. The 1-1 scoreline is best at 11/2 with Blue Square and Coral, while you can get 17/2 with Bet Victor for a 0-0 bore draw.
Of course any draw would result in Athletic proceeding to the semi-finals, and it is best at 1/14 with Stan James and William Hill that Athletic proceed from the tie overall. Mallorca are best at 9/1 with Bet365 to go through, which would obviously require a win by three goals or more, or a 2-0 victory and then a penalty win. 2-0 to Mallorca is 14/1 with Blue Square and a 3-0 win is 33/1 with the same firm. Just the 1-0 win, insufficient for the home side, is 7/1 with Bet365, Blue Square and William Hill.
There have been an average of 2.1 goals per game at Mallorca's ground this season in the league, though exactly 50% of their home games have also gone over 2.5 goals. 56% of Athletic away games have gone under 2.5 goals in the league this season and so it may be worth backing under 2.5 goals at 7/10 with Bodog only. Over 2.5 goals is 6/5 with Coral.
Past results this season don't bode well for Mallorca, who have only won five games in the league all campaign, and all by only 1 goal, which has to improve tonight if they are to have any chance of progressing into the semi-finals of Spains' biggest domestice cup competition. Athletic have a celebrated history in the competition, winning the cup a huge 23 times, second only to Barcelona's 25, and 5 better than Real Madrid's 18. While tey have not won it since 1984, they did get to the final in 2009, when they lost out to Barcelona.
Iker Muniain and Fernando Llorente scored the two goals in the first leg and it is a top price of 15/8 with Boylesports for the Spanish international to score anytime this evening. The diminuitive Muniain is 5/2 with Stan James to get on the scoresheet while Basque gabilondo is best at 4/1 with Bet365. Mallorca's Hemed is their shortest price at 9/4 with Stan James, while Michael Pereira is 10/3 with Bet Victor. Inigo Perez is 9/2 with Stan James to score anytime.
The match kicks off at 1900 GMT and is live on Sky Sports.
