Coppa Italia: Napoli v Inter Milan Odds and Betting Preview
By Jack Howard on 2012-01-25 09:43:09
NAPLES, ITALY – Napoli host Inter Milan this evening in the quarterfinals of the Coppa Italia at Stadio San Paolo. The game is being billed as a close encounter, with the hosts starting as slight favourites to win at best odds of 6/4 (bet £4 to make £6 profit) with Stan James. For those punters who think that Claudio Ranieri’s Inter Milan will triumph, however, the away side can be backed at a 11/5 with Stan James, whilst the draw is on offer at a market best of 9/4 with Bet Victor.
Inter Milan had a shocking start to their season, winning only one league game in their first six and finding themselves floundering in the relegation zone. The Italian giants have since returned to their normal ways, and are currently on a winning streak of eight games in all competitions. Ranieri will expect another victory in today’s game, but Inter must achieve this result without the help of either Diego Forlan or Dejan Stankovic, both of whom remain sidelined due to injury. Napoli, on the other hand, will be looking for a repeat of their impressive 3-0 victory over their opponents earlier in the season, but may find that Inter are a restructured and vastly superior team to the one that they faced at the San Siro in early October. The stage is set for an intriguing encounter.
In the over/under betting the top price on over 2.5 goals being scored is 6/5 with Paddy Power, whilst under 2.5 goals is on offer at 3/4 with Bet Victor. For those punters expecting this quarterfinal fixture to end in a defensive stalemate with no goals conceded, however, under 0.5 goals can be backed at considerably longer odds of 9/1 with William Hill.
Edinson Cavani has been on impressive form in a Napoli shirt so far this season, netting 16 goals in 24 appearances in all competitions. Unsurprisingly Cavani starts today’s fixture as favourite to be the first name on the score sheet, and can currently be backed at best odds of 5/1 with Boylesports. Inter Milan are likely to start with Diego Milito on his own up front, supported by Wesley Sneijder in a creative attacking midfield role. Militio is currently available to break the deadlock at a market best of 6/1 with Coral, whilst Sneijder is on offer to score first at a longer 8/1 with Paddy Power and Ladbrokes.
Napoli are quoted at best odds of 7/2 with Ladbrokes to win this match after leading at half time, whilst Draw/Napoli is available at 5/1 with William Hill. Draw/Inter, on the other hand, can be backed at 6/1 with Coral, whilst those punters who think that the away side will fight back to win this match after trailing at half time can back Napoli/Inter at odds as long as 40/1 with Boylesports.
In the overall tournament betting, Juventus are currently favourites to lift the Coppa Italia at 9/4 with Bet365, whilst both Milan clubs are on offer at 7/2 with the same bookmakers. Napoli can currently be backed to win the trophy at 11/2 with Bet365.
