By Jack Howard on 2012-01-25 10:11:05
VERONA, ITALY – Chievo Verona face A.C. Siena this afternoon in the quarterfinals of the Coppa Italia at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi. Chievo start the fixture as firm favourites to progress to the next round of the competition, and can currently be backed to win at a market best of 13/10 (bet £10 to make £13 profit) with Paddy Power. For those punters anticipating an upset, however, Siena are on offer at 11/4 with Bet Victor, whilst the draw is available at 11/5 with Ladbrokes.
Chievo have lost only one of their last six games in all competitions, and have subsequently moved in to eighth place in the Serie A. The Veronese side made their way to the quarterfinals with a 2-1 victory over Udinese, who are currently third in the league table, and head coach Guiseppe Meli will hope that his side can produce a similar performance today. Siena, by contrast, are currently seventeenth in the league, only one place clear of the relegation zone.
In the over/under betting the top price on over 2.5 goals being scored is 11/8 with Coral, whilst under 2.5 goals is on offer at 8/13 with Bet Victor. For those punters who think that this crucial tie will end in a goalless stalemate, however, under 0.5 goals being scored can be backed at a market best of 8/1 with William Hill.
Chievo are likely to start with Sergio Pellissier and Davide Moscardelli up front, and Pellissier starts the match as favourite to open the scoring at 6/1 with Coral. Moscardelli, on the other hand, can be backed to be the first name on the score sheet at a marginally longer 7/1 with Paddy Power. Siena’s most threatening attacking player, on the other hand, is Manuele Calaio, who has netted eight goals in the league so far this season. Calaio can currently be backed to break the deadlock at a top price of 7/1 with Coral.
Chievo are quoted at best odds of 3/1 with Blue Square to win the match after leading at half time, whilst draw/Chievo is on offer at 9/2 with Paddy Power. Draw/Siena is available at 7/1 with Coral, whilst those punters who think that Siena will win the match after trailing at half time can back Chievo/Siena at considerably longer odds of 50/1 with Coral.
In the overall title betting Juventus are currently favourites to win the trophy at the end of the season at best odds of 9/4 with Bet365, whilst both of the Milan giants are available at 7/2 with the same bookmakers. Chievo can be backed to win the title at longer odds of 14/1 with Bet365, whilst Siena are on offer at an outside 16/1 shot with the same bookmakers.
