Group A ECB40 Cricket - Lancashire vs Sussex betting preview
By Matt Knowles on 2010-08-03 09:38:57
Lancashire will hope to bounce back from their eight-wicket t20 Cup defeat to Essex last week as they face Sussex in Group A of the ECB40.
The Lightning have struggled this season and find themselves fifth in their seven-team group after seven matches. They are underdogs today, with Bet 365 offering 6/5 (bet £50 to win £60 profit) that they can provide an upset.
However, Sussex are only two points ahead of their opponents, albeit with a far superior run-rate, and are in poor form after losing three of their last four in this competition and going down by 13 runs against Nottingham in the Cup last time out. Betfair punters seem to think they can turn it around today though and they are 8/11 on the exchange.
Shivnarine Chanderpaul has been made favourite to be Lancashire`s top batsman today and the West Indian is available at 10/3 with Sky Bet and Totesport after solid showings against South Africa in his last 20-20 appearance and an excellent century against Hampshire to keep them in the test match.
For Sussex, the biggest danger is seen to come from the left-handed Ed Joyce, at 7/2 with most bookmakers, despite the meagre four runs he contributed in his side`s recent Cup defeat.
Today`s match gets under way at 4.40 pm and will be shown live on Sky Sports 1.
