ICC World Twenty20 betting - Australia vs West Indies
By Harry Maude on 2010-05-11 20:30:05
The West Indies play Australia tonight, knowing that they need to win to progress to the semi-finals, but they will face a tough test against Australia, who have been on fire recently with four wins from four games.
Australia are heavy favourites for the match, priced at 9/20 on Betfair (bet $200 to make $90 profit), while the West Indies are at 2/1 with Totesport.
Shane Watson is favourite to be top batsman for Australia, priced at 11/4, while David Warner is at 3/1. Skipper Michael Clarke is at 6/1 with Stan James, ahead of David Hussey who is at 7/1. Cameron White saved Australia against Sri Lanka, and is priced at 8/1 to make the top score today.
If the West Indies are to win today, then a lot of pressure will be on captain Chris Gayle to perform with the bat. Gayle scored a magnificent 98 from 66 balls against India, and is the 5/2 favourite to top-score again today. He is followed by Shivnarine Chanderpaul at 7/2, and Ramnaresh Sarwan at 9/2. Dwayne Bravo is at 8/1, while Kieron Pollard is a 10/1 shot with Stan James. Pollard has not performed so far in the tournament but his Twenty20 talent is undoubted, and coming in at number four, he could blitz a quick 30 or 40 runs and make the top score.
Mitchell Johnson and Dirk Nannes are the 3/1 joint-favourites to be top bowler for Australia, followed by Shaun Tait who is at 7/2. Kemar Roach and Jerome Taylor are at the head of the market for the West Indies, priced at 7/2, while Suleiman Benn is at 4/1 with Ladbrokes.
Australia are the favourites to win the tournament, priced at 11/8, while the West Indies are at 16/1.
