THESSALONIKI, GREECE – After last week's goalless draw at the Stadio Friuli, Italian side Udinese travel to Thessaloniki this Thursday with the tie firmly in the balance as they take on Greek side PAOK in the second leg of their last 32 clash. PAOK are the favourites for the encounter, with William Hill offering a best price of 17/10 (bet £10 to make £17 profit) on a home victory. Udinese are a 2/1 chance to secure their passage to the last sixteen with a victory. Betfred go 9/4 on the draw.
PAOK will be looking to extend their unbeaten European record to twelve matches this Thursday evening as they target a place in the Europa League’s last sixteen and a meeting with AZ Alkmaar or RSC Anderlecht. László Bölön’s outfit have been one of the surprise package’s of the tournament so far, topping group A ahead of Tottenham and Rubin Kazan, and have a real chance of reaching the last sixteen after securing a 0-0 draw in Udinese last week.
Udinese currently sit third in the Serie A standings as the Zebrette continue to punch above their weight despite the losses of star men Alexis Sanchez and Gokhan Inler over the summer. Francesco Guidolin’s side will see the Europa League as a real chance of claiming silverware this season and will have been disappointed by their failure to capitalise on their home advantage in last week’s stalemate. That result has left the Italian side with an uphill challenge this evening against in-form PAOK, a task made even more difficult by the absence of star striker Antonio Di Natale through injury.
PAOK are 13/2 with Coral to record a 1-0 victory whilst 2-1 to the hosts is a 10/1 chance at William Hill. Udinese are 13/2 with William Hill to come away with a 1-0 victory whilst 2-0 to the visitors is 12/1 at Bet365. SkyBet offer 7/1 on a goalless affair whilst the 1-1 draw is a best priced 11/2 with Coral.
William Hill offer an industry best 6/4 on three or more goals being scored in the contest whilst four or more is a 7/2 chance at Bet365. Punters expecting a low scoring affair can back less than three goals being scored in the encounter at 4/7 with Ladbrokes whilst fewer than two is a 15/8 shot at Paddy Power.
PAOK’s Stefanos Athanasiadis, who has scored eight goals in seventeen league matches this season, is the favourite to open the scoring at a best price of 6/1 with SkyBet. Dimitris Salpingidis, who has scored three goals in six games in the competition, is a 7/1 shot in the market with William Hill. Antonio Floro Flores is Udinese’s top chance to break the deadlock at 13/2 with Bet365 whilst Ghanaian international Kwadwo Asamoah is a 20/1 shot in the market with the same firm.
Udinese are the favourites to qualify from the tie, with Ladbrokes offering an industry-leading 4/6 on the visitors progressing whilst PAOK are an 11/8 chance with Bet365.
The Match Kicks off at 1800 GMT.
