MACCLESFIELD, UK – League Two side Macclesfield Town host Bolton Wanderers this afternoon in their third round FA Cup tie at the Moss Rose Stadium. Unsurprisingly Bolton start the game as favourites to win, and can currently be backed to do so at 8/11 (bet £11 to make £8 profit) with Ladbrokes. For those punters anticipating a dramatic upset, however, home side Macclesfield can be backed to secure a victory at 4/1 with William Hill, whilst the draw is on offer at 14/5 with Victor Chandler.
Bolton are currently eighteenth in the Premier League table, and are desperately fighting to stay in the top flight at the end of the season. Owen Coyle’s side displayed a good deal of heart in their last fixture, however, coming from behind to secure a crucial 2-1 away victory over Everton. Bolton will be hoping to build on the display in this upcoming match. Macclesfield, by direct contrast, suffered a disastrous 4-0 defeat in their last league encounter, as they were emphatically drubbed away against Accrington Stanley. It would certainly be a momentous achievement if they could turn their fortunes around and win against Bolton.
In the over/under betting the top price on over 2.5 goals being scored is 17/20 with Betinternet, whilst under 2.5 goals is on offer at evens with Bet365. For those punters expecting this tie to turn in to a goal fest, however, over 5.5 goals being scored can be backed at considerably longer odds of 12/1 with Bet365.
Croatian striker Ivan Klasnic has been Bolton’s most effective attacking player so far this season, netting seven goals in the Premier League. Klasnic starts this afternoon’s game as the favourite to open the scoring, and can currently be backed to do so at best odds of 9/2 with Ladbrokes. Klasnic’s team mate Kevin Davies is also deemed to be dangerous by the bookmakers, and is available to score first at a slightly longer 5/1 with the same bookmakers. Macclesfield’s most effective striker, on the other hand, is Ben Tomlinson, who can be backed to break the deadlock at 8/1 with William Hill.
Bolton are quoted at best odds of 9/5 with Blue Square to win the match after leading at half time, whilst draw/Bolton is on offer at 7/2 with Boylesports. Draw/Macclesfield, on the other hand, is available at 10/1 with Bet365, whilst Bolton/Macclesfield can be backed at considerably longer odds of 50/1 with Boylesports.
Kick-Off is at 15.00 GMT
