LIVERPOOL, UK – Manchester United travel to Anfield this Saturday to take on fierce rivals Liverpool in the highlight of the FA Cup’s fourth round ties. Liverpool are the favourites for the encounter at a best price of 8/5 with Paddy Power. United are a 2/1 shot to progress with William Hill. The draw is a 12/5 chance at BetVictor.
Liverpool come into this weekend’s contest full of confidence after securing their place in next month’s Carling Cup Final with a 3-2 aggregate victory over Manchester City. Kenny Dalglish’s side have been struggling in the league recently, with no wins in their last three fixtures, but have been in fine form in the cups with impressive victories over Chelsea and City in the league cup and a 5-1 trashing of Oldham in the last round of this competition. The Merseyside outfit will have serious ambitions of a cup double this season but face a real test this weekend as they attempt to overcome the League champions at Anfield. Star striker Luis Suarez will miss the encounter as the Uruguayan continues to serve his eight-match suspension for racism.
Manchester United have been in impressive form this month as they continue to grind out results in spite of a raft of injuries to their star players. Sir Alex Ferguson’s men have claimed crucial league victories over Bolton and Arsenal in their past two fixtures to follow on from their 3-2 cup triumph over Man City at Eastlands. The Red Devils’ injury problems have however shown no signs of improving with Nani, Anderson, Phil Jones, Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney the latest visitors to the Old Trafford treatment room and all doubtful for the encounter.
Liverpool are 8/1 with Ladbrokes to claim a one nil victory whilst 2-1 to Kenny Dalglish's charges is a 10/1 shot at Betfred. United are 9/1 with Ladbrokes to edge the encounter by a goal to nil whilst 2-1 to the visitors is a 10/1 chance with Bet365.
Nine of Man Utd's last ten fixtures in all competitions have contained three or more goals and over 2.5 goals in this one is a 21/20 chance at Ladbrokes. Punters expecting a tense affair can back fewer than three goals being scored in the match at 5/6 with BetVictor or less than two at 5/2 with Stan James. Four or more goals is a 12/5 shot at Ladbrokes.
Liverpool/Liverpool is the favourite in the Half-Time/Full-Time market at a best price of 7/2 with Betfred whereas Draw/Liverpool is a 5/1 shot with Bet365. Punters can back United to be leading at the interval and go on to win the match at 4/1 with Ladbrokes whilst Draw/Man Utd is an 11/2 shot at William Hill. Liverpool/Man Utd is a 33/1 long shot in the market with BetVictor.
Wayne Rooney, despite his playing status being up in the air for the contest, is the favourite to break the deadlock between the sides at a best price of 13/2 with Stan James. Danny Welbeck, who has scored in each of his last three games for the champions, is a 15/2 chance in the market with Bet365 whilst Antonio Valencia is a 16/1 shot with William Hill. In-form Craig Bellamy is Liverpool’s top chance in the market at an industry best 15/2 with Stan James.
Manchester United, the most successful side in the history of the competition, are 6/1 with BetVictor to win their twelfth FA Cup. Liverpool are a 10/1 chance to win the illustrious competition with Ladbrokes.
The Match Kicks off at 1245 GMT with live coverage on ITV 1.
