SUNDERLAND, UK: The fourth round of this year's FA Cup has thrown up plenty of exciting ties and Sunday's northeast Derby is certainly among them. In-form Sunderland host Middlesbrough in what promises to be lively encounter, with bookmakers believeing the Premier League side should emerge victorious, making them favourites for the match at odds of 4/6 with Ladbrokes. The draw is available at 4/5 with BetVictor, while Totesport go as long as 5/1 that Middlesbrough fans make the short trip home with a win to savour.
Sunderland have been thoroughly revitalised under Martin O'Neill since the former Villa boss took over from Steve Bruce, and the Black Cats go into the game with four wins from their last five games. A solitary 1-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea is nothing to ashamed of, and they will be confident of getting a result against a Middlesbrough team who have fallen on slightly difficult times after a very bright start to the season.Tony Mowbray's men may be as high as fourth in the table, but they have failed to win any of their last four in the Championship and need to turn it around if they are to have a chance of delighting their supporters with an upest on Sunday.
The last meeting between the pair, two years ago, finished in a 1-1 draw, and a repeat of that is the favourite score for the game, priced at 13/2 with Ladbrokes. The same firm also offer 7/1 on both 1-0 and 2-0 to the hosts, with 2-1 slightly longer at 8/1. The game is 11/1 with Betinternet to finish goalless, with 3-0 to Sunderland and 1-0 to Middlesbrough both at 12/1, the former with Betinternet and the latter with Bet 365.
Former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendter is the joint-favourite to be the first on the scoresheet, at 5/1 with Coral, along Stephane Sessegnon, a revelation in midfield this season for the Black Cats. Next in the betting are Frazier Campbell (looking to make his first appearance of the season) and Ji Dong-Won, both available at 11/2 with Boylesports. Scott McDonald is thought to be the visitor's best hope of taking the game's first lead, available at 11/1 with Bet 365.
Sunderland are 13/8 with Stan James to lead at both half-time and full-time and 7/2 with Ladbrokes to win the match despite going in level at the break. Betfred offer 5/1 that both halves finish honours even, while Middlesbrough/Middlesbrough and draw/Middlesbrough are 10/1 and 11/1 with Bet 365.
Chelsea are favourites for the FA Cup this season, at 9/2 with BetVictor, but Sunderland are given an outside chance of a shock triumph at 20/1 with Coral. Middlesbrough are seen as no-hopers and are as long as 150/1 with Betfred and Bet 365.
The game kicks off at 13.30 GMT and will be live on ITV1.
