BRIGHTON, UK - Championship outfit Brighton host high-flying Premier League side Newcastle United at the Amex Stadium this Saturday in a fourth round FA Cup clash. Newcastle are the strong favourites for the tie with William Hill offering an industry best 21/20 on an away victory. Brighton are 3/1 with Bet Victor to pull off a shock victory. Bet365 go 12/5 on a stalemate.
Newcastle face a tough test this Saturday as they look to rebound from last weekend’s harrowing 5-2 defeat to Fulham with a victory over Gus Poyet’s Brighton. The Geordies had been in fine form prior to that defeat, with victories over QPR, Blackburn and Man Utd, and will be hoping to get back on track with victory. Alan Pardew has indicated his side are harbouring real hopes of winning the trophy and are likely to put out a full strength side for the contest.
Brighton are somewhat fortunate to still be in the competition after surviving a real scare against non-league Wrexham in the last round to scrape through on penalties. Struggles against Wrexham apart however, the Seagulls have been in fine form recently with Gus Poyet’s side recording three consecutive league victories to begin the New Year and will be eyeing up an upset to continue their progression into the competition’s latter stages.
In the correct score market, the 1-1 draw the favoured result at a best-priced 6/1 with Coral. Newcastle are 7/1 with Ladbrokes to secure their progression to the fifth round with a 1-0 victory whilst 3-1 to the visitors is a 16/1 chance with Bet365. Brighton are 10/1 with Paddy Power to win the match by a goal to nil whilst 2-1 to the hosts is a 12/1 shot at Totesport.
Punters expecting a high scoring contest can back three or more goals to be scored in the match at evens with Bet365 or four or more at 11/4 with Boylesports. Ladbrokes offer an industry-leading 13/10 on under 2.5 goals being scored in the affair whilst under 1.5 goals is offered at 12/5 with William Hill.
Punters can back Newcastle to be leading at the interval and go on to win the contest at 12/5 with Ladbrokes whilst Draw/Newcastle is a 4/1 chance at Paddy Power. Brighton/Brighton is available at a best-priced 6/1 with Betfred whilst Draw/Draw is a 9/2 shot with Bet Victor.
Ireland international Leon Best is the favourite to open the scoring between the two sides at a best priced 13/2 with Betfred whilst mercurial playmaker Hatem Ben Arfa, who has found the net in three of his last five appearances, is an 8/1 chance in the market with SkyBet. Scottish forward Craig Mackail-Smith is the hosts’ top chance to break the deadlock alongside top scorer Ashley Barnes at 8/1 with Ladbrokes.
Newcastle are currently an 18/1 chance with Bet365 to win the FA Cup whilst Brighton are 200/1 outsiders for the competition at Betfred.
The Match Kicks off at 1745 GMT with live coverage on ESPN.
