FA Cup: Derby County v Stoke City Odds and Betting Preview

DERBY, UK – Championship hopefuls Derby County face Premier League Stoke City this afternoon in their eagerly anticipated FA Cup clash at Pride Park. Stoke unsurprisingly start the game as favourites to win, and can currently be backed at 5/4 (bet £4 to make £5 profit) with Ladbrokes. For those punters who think that the Rams will secure progress to the next round of the competition, however, causing an FA Cup upset, Derby are available at 13/5 with Bet Victor. The draw is currently on offer at a market best of 12/5 with Bet365.
Stoke City reached the final of the FA Cup for the first time in the club’s history last season, finishing runners up to Roberto Mancini’s Manchester City. Tony Pulis will be hoping that his side can achieve similar success in this season’s competition, and will expect his side to brush aside the challenge posed by Derby County. Stoke have only lost one of their last 15 matches against clubs from inferior divisions in the FA Cup, when they were knocked out by League One Hartlepool in the third round 2009. Derby will doubtless be hoping to emulate Hartlepool’s achievement from three years ago, but must do so without the assistance of Steven Davies, who is sidelined due to injury.
In he over/under betting the top price on over 2.5 goals being scored in today’s game is evens with both Ladbrokes and Paddy Power, whilst under 2.5 goals is on offer at 4/5 with Stan James. For those punters who think that this encounter between Derby and Stoke will end in a goalless stalemate, however, under 0.5 goals can be backed at a market best of 10/1 with the same bookmakers.
Peter Crouch has been Stoke’s most dangerous striker so far this season, netting six goals in the Premier League and two goals in Europe. Crouch starts today’s fixture as the favourite to be the first name on the score sheet, and can currently be backed at best odds of 11/2 with Bet Victor. Crouch’s team mates Kenwyne Jones and Jonathan Walters are also deemed to be dangerous by the bookmakers, and both are on offer to open the scoring at 6/1 with Blue Square. Derby County’s most dangerous striker, on the other hand, is Theo Robinson, who has eight goals to his name this season. Robinson is available to break the deadlock at 15/2 with Coral.
Stoke are quoted at best odds of 13/5 with Boylesports to win the match after leading at half time, whilst draw/Stoke is on offer at 9/2 with Paddy Power. Draw/Derby is available at 8/1 with Ladbrokes, whilst those punters who can envisage Derby snatching a win after trailing at the interval can back Stoke/Derby at odds as long as 40/1 with Coral.
