LIVERPOOL, UK – The final fifth round FA Cup tie comes from Anfield as Liverpool entertain Brighton and Hove Albion with a place in the quarter finals at stake. These two sides met earlier this season in the Carling Cup and Liverpool will be confident they can beat  their lower league rivals once again. The Reds have been very inconsistent in the Premiership this year and will hope to put a bad week behind them following the fall-out from the Luiz Suarez handshake saga.
Liverpool are the short-priced 1/4 favourties (bet £4 to make £1 profit) with most firms for this afternoon’s game while a draw is an 11/2 chance with bet365. Brighton are quoted at 12/1 with betinternet to cause a famous upset and the Championship outfit are enjoying a decent run and are unbeaten in their last 10 games.
Liverpool have already secured one trip to Wembley this season as they face Cardiff City in the Carling Cup final and Kenny Dalglish’s men will be eager to get their name in the hat for the quarter finals of this historic competition. Liverpool are languishing in seventh place in the league unable to re-establish themselves as title contenders despite big money signings in recent years.  Maxi Rodriguez should make a return to the Liverpool starting XI having not featured since Liverpool’s victory over their bitter rivals Manchester United in the fourth round of this competition.
Brighton beat Newcastle in the last round and will hope to knock out another Premier League side on Sunday. The Seagulls have not won away against a side in the top division since beating Newcastle in 1986 and so face a formidable test today. Brighton currently lie in ninth in the Championship and they welcome back Will Buckey into the squad for today’s encounter. Buckley scored the goal that knocked Newcastle out in the last round and he will look to stretch the Liverpool defense down the left hand side.
Over 2.5 goals is a 4/6 chance with Boylesports in the Over/Under market while under the same 2.5 goal margin can be backed at 11/8 with sportingbet. Brighton are a very organized side at the back and they could frustrate Liverpool’s attacking stars. For any bettors who believe the Reds will run riot at Anfield, the can take the 13/8 on offer at Boylesports on over 3.5 goals.
Liverpool/Liverpool is a 3/4 chance with 32Red in the Half-time/Full-time market while Draw/Liverpool is a 7/2 shot with Betfred and betinternet. The Brighton/Liverpool double result is a massive 28/1 with the same firms while a draw at the end of both halves can be backed at 9/1 with BetVictor. Brighton are quoted at 30/1 with Paddy Power to be leading at both the half-time and full-time whistles.
A 2-0 victory for the hosts is quoted at 6/1 with Ladbrokes in the Correct Score betting while a three-nil victory is available at 7/1 with Blue Square. Liverpool are 8/1 shots with 32Red to win by a single goal to nil and a 0-0 stalemate is as big as 18/1 with BetVictor.
Luiz Suarez has been installed as the 7/2 favourite in the First Goalscorer betting and the controversial front man will make his FA Cup debut if he starts today. Craig Bellamy has been in fine form this season and is priced up at 4/1 with BetVictor while Andy Carroll is a 6/1 chance with Betfred. Steven Gerrard has scored eight goals in his last 11 FA Cup starts and the skipper is an 11/2 chance with Coral to open the scoring here. The most prominent player for Brighton in this market is Ashley Barnes a 16/1 shot with bet365 who scored a goal on his single start in the FA Cup this season.
