The final instalment of this year’s Formula 1 season is imminent, with Jenson Button having sewn up the Drivers Championship and Brawn GP winning the Constructors title at the Brazilian Grand Prix. The race will be the first ever day/night race in Formula 1.
Lewis Hamilton is favourite to secure pole position at 2/1, having topped the time sheets in the opening practise session. Hamilton beat fellow Englishman Button by just 0.096 seconds, who came in second place, ahead of Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel. Vettel is second favourite for pole at 3/1, ahead of team mate Mark Webber at 8/1. Button is also at 8/1.
Rubens Barrichello comes in at 12/1 followed by McLaren driver Heiki Kovalainen at 16/1. Kimi Raikonnen, who has been one of the form-men in the latter half of the season is at 25/1, as is Italian Jarno Trulli.
Former double-world champion Fernando Alonso, who will replace Raikonnen at Ferrari next season, is at 33/1 for pole. Alonso’s transfer means that Raikonnen is currently without a race drive for next season, but a return to McLaren could be on the cards following Kovalainen’s consistently sub-par performances.
The pre-qualification favourite to win the race is also Hamilton, who is priced at 9/4, followed by Vettel at 7/2. Button is third at 7/1, leading Mark Webber and Rubens Barrichello, who are at 8/1 and 9/1 respectively.
