European Tour Golf betting odds - Race to Dubai

Lee Westwood is favourite to win the Race to Dubai after an incredible start to the season that has seen him come within touching distance of the world number one ranking. The Englishman`s second-placed finishes at lucrative events such as the Dubai Desert Classic, the Masters and the Open Championship brought in, along with other top performances such his victory in the St Jude Classic, €1,822,738 to put him second in the current standings.
Westwood is available at 11/4 (bet £40 to win £110 profit) with almost every bookmaker and is followed in the betting by Northern Ireland`s Graeme McDowell, who is available at 4/1 across the board. McDowell`s earnings have been propped up by his extremely lucrative and surprising US Open victory, a tournament with a prize purse of $7.5 million. Now only €150,000 ahead of Westwood, it seems unlikely that he will be able to hold on to his lead given his hugely inconsistent form this season.
Ernie Els is next in the betting, at 15/2 with Paddy Power and Sky Bet, and the world number six is hot on Westwood`s heels in third after early-season successes at the CA Championship and the Arnold Palmer Invitational. However, Els will be concerned that he has failed to make the cut in his last three appearances.
Another who started well this season well but has faded in recent weeks is another Englishman in the form of Ian Poulter. Poulter has earned €1,444,869 so far and is available at 16/1 with Bet365 and Coral. It seems, though as if his best is behind him and he has not been able to repeat the form that saw him follow up a second place in Abu Dhabi with a win at the Match Play Championship.
A more interesting selection may be Rory McIlroy, who is well behind in the standings so far with earnings of only €734,105. He is 20/1 to overhaul his rivals but the youngster is only just beginning to fulfil his obvious potential and his third-place at the Open and earlier win at Quail Hollow suggest he could go on to greater things later in the season.
The Race to Dubai finishes with the Dubai World Championship, which tees off on the 25th of November and has a prize fund as large as $7.5 million.
