European Tour Golf betting - JBWere Masters in Melbourne

Tiger Woods has made the long journey to Australia for the JBWere Masters, which represents a huge step forward for Australian Golf. The American is rumoured to have been paid twice the total prize money of A$1.5 million for his participation in the event, held at Kingston Heath for the first time having moved from Huntingdale, which has seen the tournament sell out and drawn crowds expected to be as large as 100,000.
World number one Woods is the runaway favourite for the tournament at 6/4 (bet $60 to win $40 profit). His performance in Shanghai last weekend may have surprised some as he finished as low as sixth, but he had not played for a month prior to the tournament and is heavily fancied to beat a fairly weak field now that he has shaken off the rust. Tiger tees off at 8.30 pm tonight UK time.
Thirty-two year-old Australian Geoff Ogilvy is second favourite for the event at 11/1. Ogilvy, best known for winning the 2006 US Open, said last week of Tiger that `everyone seems to have given him the tournament already`. He insists he will not be intimidated by his rival`s reputation and if he can play to the level he did in his only Major win then he may be able to mount a challenge.
Adam Scott, at 16/1, is seen as the next most likely to shock the American. Scott is famous both for his success on the golf course and his private life and is currently dating Serbian tennis player Ana Ivanovic. His golf has not been as impressive this year and the twenty-nine year-old will be hoping turn it around in his native Australia.
Other notable contenders include Aaron Baddeley and John Senden. Baddeley is the only former course winner competing in the event after he successfully defended his Australian Open title in 2000 and Sended has had an excellent run of form recently and has finished in the top ten seven times.
