EPSOM, U.K. - Champion jockey Ryan Moore today completed a memorable Oaks-Derby double on the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Workforce at 6/1 this afternoon at Epsom. The King`s Best colt showed a smart attitude to reel in pacemaker At First Sight, who stunned punters by finishing second at 100/1, a full seven lengths behind the fantastic winner.
Frankie Dettori`s mount, Rewilding, who was heavily backed this morning into odds of 9/2, battled on well to claim third from Jan Vermeer.
Jan Vermeer was sent off as the 9/4 favourite for the 2010 Epsom Derby. He travelled well throughout the race but finished a well-beaten fourth.
Bookmakers William Hill will be delighted with the result, as they stuck their necks out by offering 3/1 about the Irish trained favourite this morning.
Punters who backed Ryan Moore to pull off an incredible double will be thrilled to learn that it paid out 135/1 if they took the morning prices (Snow Fairy 16/1, Workforce 7/1).
Here is how they finished in the 2010 Epsom Derby:
1. Workforce 6/1
2. At First Sight 100/1
3. Rewilding 9/2
4. Jan Vermeer 9/4f
5. Midas Touch 6/1
6. Al Zir 14/1
7. Coordinated Cut 20/1
8. Buzzword 40/1
9. Hot Prospect 50/1
10. Azmeel 14/1
