Epsom - Derby Day betting round-up
By Matt Knowles on 2010-06-05 11:51:27
Britain`s richest and most prestigious race takes place at Epsom today and Jan Vermeer is hot favourite at 3/1 to land the Derby following the withdrawal of previous market leader Saint Nicholas Abbey.
The Aidan O`Brian-trained Colt, who won the Criterium International at Saint-cloud last year, has been extremely popular with punters and won smartly at Curragh in his only effort this year.
Following Jan Vermeer in the betting is Rewilding. Rewilding will be ridden by Frankie Dettori and impressed when winning by four lengths at Goodwood two weeks ago. He is 11/2 to win today and has seen some late support.
Henry Cecil will have been disappointed by his two Oaks contenders` performances but today saddles Bullet Train, who is 15/2. A winner at Lingfield over a similar trip last month it seems likely that he will at least stay the mile and a half today.
Aiden O`Brian will also be running Midas Touch at 7/1, and Sir Michael Stoute`s Workforce, who finished second in the Dante Stakes at York, is available at the same price.
Some interesting outsiders include the Timeform Trophy-winning Coordinated Cut, at 20/1, and Azmeel, who is trained by John Gosden, at 12/1. Gosden says his colt has `a decent each-way chance` Ā and this is hard to argue with following his strong showing at Chester last time out.

Today's Horse Racing...Oh good, Railway storm is a non-runner. Does that mean I don't get my bonus on one winner?
