EPSOM, UK - Aidan O`Brien has won three of the last five renewals of the Coronation Cup at Epsom, and this year he saddles last year`s Derby runner-up, Fame And Glory. The four-year-old son of Montjeu recently returned to winning ways in impressive fashion at The Curragh and is a 6/5 chance with Sky Bet (bet £50 to win £60 profit).
The Coronation Cup is run over the same course and distance as both the Derby and the Oaks, and both Fame And Glory and Sariska have proven form at the track. The race will be screened live for UK viewers on BBC2 at 2.45pm on Friday June 4. It will require one of the market leaders to drop out in order to severely affect the current prices offered by the bookmakers today.
Behind Fame And Glory in the market is Sariska at 9/4 with Paddy Power and William Hill. Sariska won both the Irish and British Oaks last season, and she proved on her seasonal reappearance at York that she is not inconvenienced by soft ground. Jamie Spencer will be riding her on Ladies Day, but she will have to show improvement on the official ratings to catch Fame And Glory on Friday.
André Fabre has won the Coronation Cup a remarkable six times, but he is no longer the trainer of 7/1 chance Cavalryman. Cavalryman actually beat Fame And Glory in the Arc last year, but he disappointed in Dubai earlier this year. Frankie Dettori is set to ride the colt for Godolphin, and you can bet that plenty of female punters will be following him.
Youmzain seems to have been around for years, but many will forget that he has finished runner-up in this race for the previous two renewals. Kieren Fallon will partner the Mick Channon-trained 8/1 shot, who is being campaigned with the the Prix de l`Arc de Triomphe in mind.
Jukebox Jury may come in for each-way support on the day, but he is now available at 14/1 with Totesport. South Easter is 40/1 with Stan James, but will be helped by champion jockey Ryan Moore.
Clowance is also 40/1, and you can forget about both Dixie Music and Bashkirov, who are both 150/1.
