International Friendly - Sweden vs Scotland betting preview
By Matt Knowles on 2010-08-11 16:30:15
Scotland face Sweden tonight in Stockholm in what is only Craig Levein`s second match as manager since replacing George Burley eight months ago. The bookmakers think he has a tough job on his hands and make Sweden favourites, with Stan James and Betfred top price at 4/5 (bet £40 to win £50 profit). Scotland are 9/2 to win on Betfair, where 14/5 is also available on the draw.
The visitors will be missing several key players through injury, with the likes of Alan Hutton, Craig Gordon and Scott Brown all unavailable tonight, while Sweden will carry a big threat from the creativity of Sebastian Larsson and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Ibrahimovic is favourite to open the scoring this evening at 4/1 with most layers, followed by Marcus Berg at 7/1 with Ladbrokes and Johan Elmander at the same price with William Hill. For Scotland, the biggest threat comes from the prolific Kris Boyd at 10/1 with Bet 365, who also offer 11/1 on Kenny Miller and Steven Fletcher.
A 1-0 home win is the favourite score for the game at 6/1 with Betfred and Victor Chandler, ahead of 1-1 at 7/1 with Stan James, while the game is 9/1 on Betfair to finish goalless. Stan James offer the same price that Sweden can record a more convincing 2-0 win and Scotland are 13/1 on Betfair to earn their second consecutive 1-0 win after beating the Czech Republic by that scoreline in March.
Sweden are 2/1 on Betfair to lead tonight at both half-time and full-time and 4/1 in the same place to win the match after drawing at half-time. Draw/draw is 5/1 with Victor Chandler and the same firm are also top price on Scotland/Scotland, offering 10/1.
Tonight`s match kicks off at 7 pm UK time and is live on ESPN.
