International Friendly betting - Nigeria v North Korea

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA - Nigeria face North Korea in the Makhulong Stadium on the outskirts of Johannesburg today in preparation for a Group B tie coming up against South Korea in the World Cup itself. There will be a few invited guests in attendance, as well as the first 5,000 fans who turn up at the stadium gates.
The Super Eagles have a strong following in the Johannesburg area, and the national team will feel like they are playing a game on home turf. Nigeria are 8/11 (bet £110 to win £80 profit) with Victor Chandler to win the match, and the draw is offered at 13/5 by Sky Bet. A win for North Korea is quite unlikely according to the betting, as Ladbrokes are willing to offer odds of 9/2.
Korea DPR have caused recent controversy by naming a striker as their third goalkeeper in their World Cup squad. FIFA have moved quickly to clear up the matter, and have ruled that Kim Myong-won will only be able to take part in the tournament between the sticks. Dubbed `The Chariot`, Kim Myong-won has averaged almost a goal per game for his club this season.
Meanwhile the Eagles have played out draws with Saudi Arabia (0-0) and Colombia (1-1), and fans will be hoping they can finally record a confidence-boosting win at the right moment.
Bookmakers William Hill think that Nigeria won`t have things all their way against North Korea this afternoon, and are best-priced at 2/1 about Nigeria leading the match at both half time and full time. A draw at half time followed up by a Nigeria win after 90 minutes is the next shortest outcome in the half time/full time betting at 7/2 with Ladbrokes.
Nigeria`s players are well-known to European football bettors, and the likes of Obafemi Martins, Peter Odemwingie and Yakubu Aiyegbeni are now household names. A 1-0 win to Nigeria is the favourite outcome in the correct score betting at 6/1 with Victor Chandler. North Korea cannot be completely dismissed by punters, and a 1-0 win for them is a 12/1 chance with Sky Bet.
Those willing to bet that Nigeria will be involved in yet another draw have the opportunity to back 0-0 at 8/1 with Sky Bet and 1-1 at 7/1 with the same firm.
