International Friendly betting - Netherlands vs Ghana
By Matt Knowles on 2010-06-01 17:30:33
The Netherlands continue their preparations for South Africa as they face Ghana in their penultimate friendly before the World Cup this summer. The hosts are favourites for the game at 1/3 (bet £30 to win £10 profit), leaving Ghana as underdogs at 9/1, with the draw at 4/1.
Netherlands manager Mert van Marwijk will be happy with his side`s defensive record of late but will want to score more goals, as the men in Orange have managed only four in their last five games, three of which finished goalless. Ghana will need a real improvement to live with their opponents tonight after recently losing to Bosnia-Herzegovina and managing only 0-0 against Burkina Faso.
The bookmakers seem to think a comfortable home win is on the cards tonight and have made 2-0 and 1-0 to the Netherlands the joint-favourite scores for the game, followed by 3-0 at 7/2 and 1-1 at 9/1. Betinternet offer 18/1 on another scoreless draw and a shock 1-0 win for Ghana is as long as 22/1 with Paddy Power.
Robin van Persie`s return from injury is a huge boost for the Netherlands, as his double against Mexico last time out showed, and he is favourite to open the scoring again tonight at 5/2, ahead of Milan`s Klaas-Jan Huntelaar at 5/1 and Liverpool`s Dirk Kuyt, who is 6/1 with Ladbrokes. Ghana`s Matthew Amoah is seen as their best chance of breaking the deadlock, priced at 11/1.
The Netherlands are likely to make a lot of substitutions tonight as they try out players so starters may be eager to impress while they can. The hosts are 10/11 to lead at both half-time and full-time and 7/2 to win after drawing at the break. Draw/draw is 7/1 and Victor Chandler go 25/1 that Ghana are in front at both the interval and the final whistle.
Both sides will go to South Africa this summer but it is the Netherlands who go with a real chance of success. The two-time runners-up are 12/1 with Coral to lift he trophy for the first time in their history, while Ghana are available at 100/1.
