International friendly betting - Netherlands vs Mexico

The Netherlands and Mexico continue their preparations for the World Cup this summer as they meet tonight in a friendly match in Innsbruck. Mexico`s performance against England on Monday night should encourage them, as the 3-1 scoreline was extremely harsh on the visitors, and with the depth of attacking talent at the Netherlands` disposal tonight`s match should prove an entertaining spectacle as well as a good test of strength for both sides.
The hosts are favourites to win today at 8/13 (bet £13 to win £8 profit), leaving Mexico as underdogs at 11/2, with the draw at 3/1 with Canbet. Both teams are very tough to beat and each has kept clean sheets in five of their last six matches. Last time out, the Netherlands beat the USA 2-1 while Mexico lost at Wembley. However, tonight`s visitors are the form team, winning three of their last four matches while their opponents have managed only one win in the same period.
The correct score market sees 1-0 and 2-0 wins for the Netherlands joint-favourites, along with a 1-1 draw, all at 13/2. Next is 0-0 priced at 11/1. For all their creative and exciting players, the Netherlands have recorded three goalless draws in their last four games and scored only three times in their last five. A 1-0 win for Mexico tonight is 14/1 and a more impressive 2-0 is available at 33/1 with Paddy Power.
Arsenal`s Robin van Persie has been made favourite to open the scoring tonight at 7/2 after recovering from a serious ankle injury that took several months of his season. He is followed by goalscoring midfielder Eljero Elia of Hamburg and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar of Milan at 5/1, with Dirk Kuyt slightly longer at 6/1. For Mexico, Guillermo Franco and Javier Hernandez are most likely at 8/1.
The Netherlands are 7/5 with Boylesports to lead tonight at both half-time and full-time and after their recent scoring troubles manager Javier Aguirre may want his team to start the game at a very high tempo. Mexico, though, are difficult to break down and the bookmakers offer 7/2 on draw/Netherlands and 11/2 on draw/draw, with Victor Chandler going 12/1 that Mexico are in front at both the interval and the final whistle.
Mexico and the Netherlands will both have different levels of expectation at this summer`s World Cup. At 12/1, the Netherlands are fifth-favourites for the tournament and can harbour real hopes of going all the way. Mexico may find the competition a little stiff, however, and are real outsiders at 100/1 with Ladbrokes.
