International Friendly football betting - Wales vs Sweden
By Matt Knowles on 2010-03-03 18:45:06
Wales welcome Sweden to Swansea`s Liberty Stadium tonight as two teams who failed to qualify for the World Cup try to give their fans something to cheer about. Both sides will be missing some of their key players, with Aaron Ramsey and Carig Bellamy missing for Wales, leaving James Collins to captain the side, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic unavailable for Sweden.
The visitors are favourites for the game at 6/5 (bet £5 to win £6 profit) with Skybet, leaving Wales as home underdogs at 13/5. Wales have not played since November 2009 but have won their last two matches, last time out beating Scotland 3-0. Sweden played twice in January but will look to do better than they did last time out in their 1-0 defeat at the hands of Syria. The most noticeable thing about both teams` results is the lack of draws. Sweden have gone fifteen matches without a draw and Wales an incredible twenty games. A draw tonight is available at 23/10.
The bookmakers believe that the two sides are quite evenly matched and have made a 1-1 draw the most likely score for the game at 6/1, slightly ahead of a 1-0 win for Sweden at 13/2. 0-0 is at 8/1 and a more convincing 2-0 win for the visitors is a 17/2. A 1-0 home win is priced at 17/2.
Marcus Berg has been made joint favourite to open the scoring tonight at 13/2, along with Ola Toivonen. Rob Earnshaw of Wales is 7/1 to do the honours and is seen as Wales` best chance of scoring the first goal of the match. At the same price is Johan Elmander of Bolton, with Sheffield United`s Ched Evans available at 17/2 with Bet365.
Ladbrokes offer 11/4 that Sweden lead tonight at both half-time and full-time and the visitors are generally available at 4/1 to win the match after drawing at half-time. The bookmakers go 4/1 that both halves end in a draw and Wales are 11/2 to be winning at both the interval and the full-time whistle. Draw/Wales is available at 7/1.
