Spanish La Liga football betting - Real Mallorca vs Real Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo`s eighty-ninth minute winner on Sunday evening against Osasuna may have kept Real Madrid in the title race but they will not want to leave it that late again as they travel to the island of Mallorca knowing that dropped points mean they will almost surely finish the season with nothing. As Florentino Perez`s summer scheme to build a new team of `Galacticos` cost over £200 million, failure to win a single trophy would be very embarrassing indeed and would likely see manger Manuel Pellegrini out of a job.
The visitors are favourites for tonight`s game at 8/13 (bet £13 to win £8 profit), leaving Mallorca as underdogs at 9/2, with the draw at 10/3. Madrid have been outstanding this season and it is perhaps unfortunate for them that they are playing in the same league as one of the best Barcelona teams of all time. They are in top form, having won nine of their last ten matches, losing only to their Catalan rivals, and will expect to win again tonight. However, Mallorca, who are fourth in La Liga, will have other ideas and can boast a superb home record of fourteen wins in seventeen matches this season.
Tonight`s match will be a real contest and looks set to be close, with the bookmakers reflecting this by making a 1-1 draw the joint-favourite score at 8/1, along with 2-1 to the visitors. A 2-0 win for Madrid, more along the lines they are used to, is 10/1 with SkyBet and an emphatic 3-0, the score last time the sides met at the ONO Estadi, is 14/1 with the same firm, who also offer 20/1 on a shock 1-0 home win.
Cristiano Ronaldo has managed twenty-two goals in twenty-six league games this season and the Portuguese phenomenon is 5/2 favourite to open the scoring tonight, followed by Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain, who has twenty-six goals, at 7/2. Karim Benzema and Kaka, who cost almost £90 million together, are priced at 9/2 and 13/2 respectively but the former has struggled to get in the team and the latter is often troubled by injury. Arit Adruiz is Mallorca`s most likely player to break the deadlock at 15/2.
A draw does Madrid no good tonight and they will look to start the game at a high tempo and score early. Victor Chandler offer 8/5 that they lead at both half-time and full-time and 4/1 is generally available that they win after drawing at the interval. However, Madrid have always been associated with occasionally exposing their defence by committing too many players forward and they will be vulnerable to counter attacks, with Victor Chandler best price on Mallorca/Mallorca at 10/1.
Real Madrid have not been dropping points but with every game that Barcelona win their chances of winning the title fade away, with the new `Galacticos` 11/4 to overhaul their rivals come the end of the season.
