Round two of El Clasico takes place this weekend at the Bernabeu, with the result likely to determine the winner of the title this year. Barcelona and Real Madrid are equal on points, but Madrid top the table on goal difference, where they are one goal ahead. They will have seven games left after the match on Saturday and Barca probably have the harder run in, with games against Villareal and Sevilla still to come.
Real have won every home league game so far this season, but lost to Barca when the sides met at the Nou Camp, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic scoring the only goal. Despite Real`s home advantage, Barca will go into the game on a high, having decimated Arsenal in the Champions League midweek, with Lionel Messi scoring all four goals in their 4-1 win. Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique both missed the match against Arsenal through suspension, but will be back in action tonight.
Real are marginal favourites for the match, priced at 13/8 with Victor Chandler (bet $80 to make $130 profit). Barca are at 9/5 with Stan James, and the draw is priced at 5/2.
The favourite scoreline for the match is a 1-1 draw, which is priced at 7/1 with SkyBet. A 2-1 win is at 9/1 for Real and 10/1 for Barca, and a 2-2 draw is a 14/1 shot. On Betfair, a 1-0 win win is at 15/1 and a 1-0 Barca win is at 16/1, with a goalless draw priced at 21/1.
On the half time / full time market, the favourite spot is Madrid / Madrid which is priced at 7/2 with Coral. Barcelona are 4/1 to be winning at half time and full time, and draw / draw is at 11/2 on SkyBet. Draw / Real and draw / Barca are priced at 6/1 and 7/1 on Betfair, and both teams can be backed at 16/1 to be winning at half time and drawing at full time.
Cristiano Ronaldo is marginally favoured over Lionel Messi to score the opener, priced at 9/2 compared to a best price of 5/1 on the Argentinian. Gonzalo Higuain has been in great form recently, with a hat trick in his last game, and he is at 11/2 to do the honours. Karim Benzema and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are both 7/1 shots, and there are a clutch of players at 8/1, with Raul, Thierry Henry, Bojan and Pedro Rodriguez all at this price. Attacking midfielders Kaka and Rafael van der Vaart are at 9/1 and 11/1 respectively.
Following the demolition of Arsenal`s Champions League dreams, Barca have edged ahead in the betting for the title, and are now best priced at 19/20. Real can still be backed at evens, and look better value for money than Barca, as if the match tonight ends in a draw, Barca seem more likely to drop points, with their tough away trips still to come.
