La Liga football betting - Barcelona vs Athletic Bilbao
By Harry Maude on 2010-04-03 17:16:40
Barcelona host Athletic Bilbao tonight, hoping to pick up a win on the back of a great performance against Arsenal which they failed to win. Barca led 2-0 and had dominated the whole game, but the Londoners recovered in the final twenty minutes, with Theo Walcott and Cesc Fabregas equalising. Nevertheless, Los Cules will still be confident of progressing to the semi-finals, but must not become distracted as the league table is amazingly tight.
Both Real Madrid and Barca are both on 74 points at the moment, with Real just edging it on goal difference. The title will very likely be decided by the second leg of El Clasico, when the teams meet next weekend. Barca have won their last four league games, but will be challenged by Bilbao, who are sixth in the table.
Pep Guardiola`s side are unbeaten at home in the league this season, with their only blemish being the 1-1 draw with Villareal, and they are heavy favourites to triumph again tonight, priced at 2/11 (bet $110 to make $20 profit). Bilbao are priced at 20/1 on Betfair and the draw is at 13/2 with Stan James.
The favourite scoreline for the match is a 2-0 win for Barca, priced at 6/1. A 3-0 win is at 15/2 and a 2-1 win is at 9/1. A 1-0 win is also at 9/1, and Barca are 10/1 to win 4-0. A 1-1 draw is at 16/1 on Betfair, and Bilbao`s best hope is a 1-0 win which is priced at 40/1 with Paddy Power.
On the half time / full time market, Barca / Barca is the favourite spot, priced at 4/6. Draw / Barca is at 4/1 with Victor Chandler, and draw / draw is a 12/1 shot, also with Victor Chandler. Barca / draw is at 28/1 with Ladbrokes, and Bilbao / draw is at 31/1 with Bodog.
Barcelona`s talismanic forward Lionel Messi is unsurprisingly the favourite to score first, priced at 5/2. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who netted twice midweek against Arsenal, is next at 7/2. Bojan and Thierry Henry are both at 9/2, and Pedro is at 5/1. Bilbao`s best hope is Fernando Llorente, who is a 12/1 shot to do the honours.
Barca have edged ahead of Real in the betting for the La Liga title, and are now at 19/20, with Real at evens.
