La Liga football betting - Atletico Madrid vs Real Madrid

Real Madrid make the short journey across the city to bitter rivals Atletico tonight in La Liga. This match, always vital to fans of both teams, has an extra edge to it as both teams are going through very poor spells at the moment. Real, after spending several hundred million pound over the summer, have won just once in their last five games in all competitions, losing to Milan at home and most embarrassingly being thrashed 4-0 by third-tier village side Alcorcon in the Spanish Cup despite putting out a very strong side. Atletico, however, have had problems of their own with only one win all season.
As always, Madrid are favourites to beat their rivals at evens (bet $10 to win $10 profit), leaving Atletico as underdogs at 14/5. Last time the two sides met they drew 1-1, but Real have won three of the previous four meetings and six of the last ten. The draw is priced at 11/4.
A 1-1 draw has been made the most likely score tonight by the bookmakers, priced at 7/1, followed by 2-1 to Los Merengues at 15/2 and 1-0 at 9/1. 1-0 to Atletico is at 12/1 and a goalless draw is 16/1. An emphatic 3-0 win for the famous visitors is priced at 19/1.
The first goalscorer market is full of young players, with twenty-one year old Karim Benzema and his team-mate of the same age made joint favourites to open the scoring tonight, both at 11/2. Atletico Madrid are not without talented forwards themselves, however, and the highly rated Sergio Aguero, also twenty-one, is priced at 7/1 to score the first goal for the hosts tonight. The Argentinian scored a pair of superb goals against Chelsea in midweek and it is not hard to see why rumours swirl of a transfer to the West London club.
Real Madrid are 23/10 to be winning at both half-time and full-time and 4/1 to win at full-time after drawing at the interval. Both halves to be drawn is priced at 11/2, slightly ahead of the 13/2 available for Atletico to be winning at both the half-time and full-time whistles.
Manuel Pellegrini`s side spent enormous sums of money this season recruiting some of the world`s brightest superstars. However, they are behind in the title race and looking shaky and are now 2/1 to win La Liga this year. Atletico`s poor start has already all but mathematically ruled them out of any title challenge, and they are only 20/1 to be relegated this season.
