La Liga: Barcelona v Mallorca Odds and Betting Preview

BARCELONA, SPAIN – Reigning champions Barcelona host Mallorca in their La Liga clash on Saturday. Barcelona's impeccable home record was brought to an end last week, as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Sevilla at the Camp Nou. Guardiola's side will be eager to return to winning ways in their upcoming match, and are favourites to do so at best odds of 1/11 (bet £11 to make £1 profit) with Ladbrokes. For those punters expecting an upset, however, Mallorca are on offer at a much longer 40/1 with Victor Chandler, whilst the draw is available at 10/1 with Bet365 .
Barcelona are currently third in La Liga, and need to continue winning in order to apply pressure to Real Madrid and Levante who are only just ahead of them in the table. Guardiola's side have scored 21 goals at home this season without conceding, playing the kind of high-possession attacking football that has made them famous as the greatest club side on the planet. They will seek to dominate Mallorca in exactly this fashion on Saturday, and Joaquin Caparros' side will have to be exceptionaly vigilant in defence if they are to gain anything at all from the encounter.
In the over/under betting the top price on over 2.5 goals being scored is 3/10 with Bet365, whilst under 2.5 goals is on offer at 5/2 with Skybet. The bookmakers are clearly not anticipating another goalless draw at the Camp Nou, and punters can back under 0.5 goals at much longer odds of 25/1 with William Hill.
Argentine superstar Lionel Messi has been on prolific form for Barcelona so far this season, hitting the back of the net ten times in nine league appearances, and is currently 15/8 favourite with Bet365 to open the scoring in Satuday's game. Messi's team mate David Villa is also thought likely to score first at 11/4 with the same bookmakers, whilst Cesc Fabregas, who makes his retun on Saturday, is available at a longer 9/2 with Coral. Mallorca's most effective attacking player so far this season has been Israeli striker Tomer Hemed, who has scored four goals in seven league starts. Hemed can be backed to break the deadlock at best odds of 25/1 with Bet365.
Barcelona are quoted at best odds of 1/3 with Stan James to win the match after leading at half time, whilst draw/Barcelona is on offer at 9/2 with Betinternet. Draw/Mallorca is available at much longer odds of 66/1 with Paddy Power, whilst those punters who think that Mallorca will pull off the impossible by winning after trailing half time can back Barcelona/Mallorca at odds as long as 325/1 with the same bookmakers.
Kick off is at 19.00 BST
