La Liga: Real Zaragoza vs Rayo Vallecano Odds and Betting Preview
By Tom Goulding on 2012-02-05 14:50:03
ZARAGOZA, SPAIN - Real Zaragoza are looking for some much needed points this evening in La Liga as they host Rayo Vallecano at La Romareda. Bottom of the table Zaragoza are marginal favourites to win the game, priced at 6/4 (bet £4 to win £6) to get all three points, only with Bet Victor. Rayo Vallecano, who are looking to avoid relegation as well, are best at 21/10, only with Stan James and Blue Square to get an invaluable away win, while punters can back the draw at a top price of 23/10, with Bet Victor.
Zaragoza are rooted to the bottom of the table with a measly 12 points, 6 points adrift of 19th-placed Sporting Gijon, and 10 points from safety. Rayo Vallecano are only two points above the relegation zone, with 22 poins in 15th place. Rayo have won three of their ten away games this season, drawing three and losing the other four. Real Zaragoza have only won two home games however, losing four others and drawing three.
Zaragoza may therefore be worth looking at with a draw no bet, priced at 8/11 with Ladbrokes, while Rayo are best at 7/6 on Betfair to win with a draw no bet. Zaragoza are 4/11 with most firms to win with a (+1) goal handicap (advantage), Coral, Paddy Power and Stan James offering that market. Rayo are 4/7 to win with a (+1) goal handicap, with Blue Square and Coral. Other firms offer 8/15 for that market.
There have been an average of 2.8 goals per game in matches involving Rayo as the away team, though this is slightly disfigured by their two matches away at Barca and Real, which featured 12 goals in the two games. Taking out those two games, 6 of their 8 games on the road went under 2.5 goals, which is 4/6 with Sky Bet and Paddy Power. While it is 5/4 for over 2.5 goals with Paddy Power, it may even be worth looking at under 1.5 goals, at 21/10 with William Hill, given 67% of Real Zaragoza's home game have gone under 2.5 goals, and four of those nine home games have also gone under 1.5 goals.
Zaragoza have a good record against Los Vallecanos, winning five, drawing four and losing none of their last nine league meetings with Rayo. Incredibly, Los Vallecanos have played more matches at Zaragoza without ever winning than any other side. However, Zaragoza are on a run of 13 games without a win, and 14 would equal their 2nd-worst run ever in La Liga.
The game to be a draw at both half-time and full-time is 4/1 with most firms, such as Blu Square, Bet365 and Bet Victor, while Zaragoza are best at 3/1 to be winning at half-time and full-time. Rayo are best at 9/2 with William Hill and Blue Square.
Zaragoza had 12 points after 20 games on three previous occasions, and they were relegated all three times. They are heavily odds-on to be relegated this season as well, priced at 2/9 with Bet365 and 2/15 on Betfair for the drop. Rayo Vallecano are 12/5 with Bet365 to get relegated, which is quite long given it is only goal difference which is separating them from one place above the drop.
The match kicks off at 1900 GMT and is live on Sky Sports.
