La Liga: Real Madrid v Racing Santander Odds and Betting Preview
By Gus Morse on 2012-02-18 09:00:02
MADRID, SPAIN - Racing Santander travel to the Spanish Capital this Saturday afternoon to take on La Liga leaders Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. Real Madrid are favourites for the game, priced at 1/10 with BetVictor to pick up their eighth win in a row and incredibly they are chasing their eighteenth win in nineteen games.
A draw is best priced at 11/1 with Stan James and eighteenth placed Racing Santander can be backed at best odds of 28/1 with Boyle Sports to pick up their first win in five and move out of the relegation zone before many of their relegation rivals play on Sunday.
Santander are currently two points from safety and while even the most optimistic Racing fan won't be expecting a win against Madrid, their fans can take heart from their performance against Real back in September when they held Real Madrid to a goalless draw. They have only won one game at the Bernabeu in their history and that was back in 2005 when they stunned Los Blancos 2-1.
In the total goals market, over 2.5 goals is priced at 2/7 with Boyle Sports and under 2,5 goals is priced at 3/1 with bet365. Given that every single one of Real Madrid's eleven home games this season have involved more than 2.5 goals this season over 3.5 goals may well be considered, priced at 4/6 with bet365.
Madrid lead La Liga by ten points to second placed Barcelona and they look to have already beaten the Catalan giants to the title having led the league for 15 of the 22 weeks we have had so far this season. Despite going behind to an early goal against Levante at home last Sunday, Madrid quickly responded and went on to win the game courtesy of a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick, which was his sixth of the season.
Cristiano Ronaldo is the bookies favourite to open the scoring, priced at 2/1 with Paddy Power. In the same market, Higuain is best priced at 3/1 with BetVictor, Benzema is top priced at 11/4 with totesport and Germany international Mesut Özil is quoted at top odds of 6/1 with Ladbrokes to break the deadlock in this afternoon's game.
Recent history between the two sides has been all happy memories for Madrid who have won eight of the last nine meetings only conceding three goals in all nine of those matches. In the nineteen matches between these sides Madrid have won 14, lost three and drawn two.
In the correct score market, a 1-1 draw is priced at 22/1 with Coral, a 3-0 win for Los Blancos is best priced at 13//2 with totesport and a 2-0 win for Mourinho's men is best priced at 13/2 with bet365. A repeat of the goalless draw in Santander in the reverse fixture is best priced at 40/1 with BetVictor and a shock 1-0 win for the visitors today is top priced at 90/1 with Paddy Power.
The game is scheduled to kick-off at 19:00 GMT and is being broadcast live on Sky Sports 1.
