League One Playoff Final betting - Millwall vs Swindon
By Matt Knowles on 2010-05-29 12:40:37
Millwall and Swindon meet today at Wembley in the League One playoff final to compete for the last remaining spot in the Championship next season. Millwall eased past Huddersfield Town in the last round while Swindon needed penalties to beat Charlton and both sides will hope that next season they can be competing for a place in the top tier of English football.
The Lions are favourites for the game at 6/5 (bet £50 to win £60 profit), leaving Swindon as underdogs at 12/5, with the draw at the same price. When the sides met earlier in the season, Millwall did indeed come out on top, drawing 1-1 in Swindon before beating the Robins 3-2 on their own turf.
Today`s game is expected to be close and the bookmakers have made a 1-1 draw the favourite score at 6/1, followed by 1-0 to Millwall at 7/1 with Stan James. The same score in favour of Swindon is 9/1, with a 0-0 draw at the same price and 2-0 to Millwall slightly longer at 10/1.
Steve Morison has been made favourite to open the scoring today after finding the net twenty-two times this season. The Millwall striker is followed by Neil Harris at 5/1, ahead of the prolific Swindon pairing of Charlie Austin and Billy Paynter, both at 6/1.
Both sides know what is at stake today and may feel each other out in the opening stages. Millwall are 14/5 with Stan James to lead at both half-time and full-time and 9/2 to win the match after drawing at half-time. The bookmakers offer 4/1 that both halves are drawn and Swindon are 11/2 to get in front before the interval and stay there until the final whistle.
Today`s game kicks off at 3 p.m at London`s Wembley Stadium.
