League One Play-Off Semi-Final betting - Swindon vs Charlton
By Matt Knowles on 2010-05-14 17:45:37
Swindon face Charlton in the first leg of their League One play-off semi-final tie. The prize on offer is a trip to Wembley Stadium to play for a place in next season`s Championship and both sides know the importance of going into the second leg still in the tie. The visitors finished the season higher in the table than their opponents but that counts for nothing over the next ninety minutes.
The hosts are favourites for the game at 29/20, leaving Charlton as underdogs at 11/5 with SkyBet, with the draw available at 23/10. The Addicks go into the game in better form than Swindon, having won three of their last five while their opponents managed just one win over the same period.
Both meetings between the sides during the regular season finished honours even and a 1-1 draw has been made the favourite score for tonight`s game at 6/1, followed by 1-0 to Swindon at 7/1 and 1-0 to Charlton at 9/1. The bookmakers also offer 9/1 that the game finishes 0-0, with everything still to play for in the second leg.
Swindon`s prolific strikers Billy Paynter and Charie Austin, who have forty-five league goals between them this season, have been made joint-favourites to open the scoring tonight at 11/2, followed by Charlton`s Deon Burton and Nicky Forster at 7/1. However, the Charlton strikers have managed fewer  league goals combined than Paynter alone.
All four teams left in the race for promotion from League One are given similar chances of promotion but Charlton are seen as slightly more likely than Swindon, priced at 11/4 with the Robins at 3/1.
