NBA Finals betting - LA Lakers vs Boston Celtics
By Matt Knowles on 2010-06-03 14:38:20
A new chapter will be written this week in the story of one of sport`s great rivalries. The LA Lakers and the Boston Celtics will be looking to win their sixteenth and eighteenth championships respectively as they meet in the NBA Finals for the twelfth time.
The two teams contested the 2008 Finals in what was their first meeting for 21 years. Boston came out on top, taking the series 4-2. This year, however, the Lakers will be enjoying home advantage and much of the momentum after their dismissal of the Suns in the Western Conference Finals.
LA are favourites for the series at -175 (bet $175 to win $100 profit), leaving the Celtics as underdogs at +162 (bet $100 to win $162 profit).
Game one will be played at the Staples Centre and the Lakers are -220 with Boylesports on the money line, with the Celtics at +200. Betting on the money line has seen a lot of support for the Lakers, with 69% of money so far behind the favourites.
Betting against the spread, however, which is set at 6 points, has been fairly even, with 54% of action backing the visiting Celtics to cover. It is worth noting that Boston are 7-2 against the spot in their last nine games.
Both teams know how to score and the Lakers have recorded seven Overs in their last ten decisions. However, the total for tonight`s game is 110 points and 58% of money so far has backed the Under.
Unsurprisingly, Kobe Bryant is favourite to be named most valuable player at 7/10 with Boylesports. He is followed by Rajon Rondo and Paul Pierce of the Celtics, at 5/1 and 13/2 respectively. Pau Gasol is next at 14/1 but if the Lakers win it seems unthinkable that Bryant would not be MVP.
Game One tips-off tonight at 9 pm. Eastern Time.
