NCAA Postseason football - New Mexico Bowl

Albuquerque is the setting for the New Mexico Bowl today as the Wyoming Cowboys take on the Fresno State Bulldogs. This is the fourth time the event has been held and it pits teams from the Mountain West Conference against teams from the Western Athletic Conference. Today will be Fresno State`s second consecutive appearance in the New Mexico Bowl and they will look to do better than last year, when they lost 40-35 to Colorado State.
The Bulldogs are favourites for the game on the money line at -425 (bet $425 to win $100 profit), leaving the Cowboys as underdogs at +350 (bet $100 to win $350 profit). Betting on the money line has so far favoured last year`s runners-up with 74% of money backing Fresno State to justify their status as heavy favourites.
The points spread for the game has been set at eleven points, making the Bulldogs favourites at -11 points and giving the Cowboys a handicap of +11. Betting against the spread so far has also backed the favourites but by a less significant margin, with 59% of action backing them to cover.
While Fresno State has been the better of the two sides straight up, at 8-4 to Wyoming`s 6-6, the Cowboys have covered the spread at an impressive 8-3 while the Bulldogs have managed only 6-5. This means that the eleven points spread my definitely be interesting, especially for a team who ranked twentieth in the country on their turnover margin. Games like these are often decided by mistakes, rather than heroics, and if Wyoming can hold on to the ball they may just be able to spring an upset.
The Over/Under for the game is set at 55 points and betting has overwhelmingly favoured the Over, with 92% of action backing the scoring to go past the line. Wyoming, however, have had trouble scoring, ranked 111th in the country in points per game, so people betting the Over seem to expect a very one-sided game with the Bulldogs going one better than last year.
