England friendless in the betting against Australia

England have so far been friendless in the betting ahead of their clash with Australia at Twickenham on Saturday. The Wallabies are coming in for support, forcing Sky Bet to move the handicap line to Australia -4 (from -3). Australia have also been heavily backed at for the match result, with Sky Bet cutting their odds to 8/15 (from 8/13), while Martin Johnson’s men are out to 11/8 (drawn match 20/1).

Sky Bet’s rugby union betting expert, Mike Triffitt, said: “England have gone unbacked so far but we are still hopeful of some patriotic support as kick-off approaches. Coach Martin Johnson will be hoping that the team click quickly and the crowd becomes an extra man!”

Jonny Wilkinson returns to Test duty for the first time in 18 months and Sky Bet go 25/1 that he marks his comeback by scoring a full house of a try, conversion, penalty and a drop-goal. He is 33/1 to kick the winning drop-goal of the match. Betting is also available on how many points the Toulon fly-half will score and Sky Bet go 13/8 that he scores 17 points or more (12-16 points 15/8, under 12 points 13/8).

England’s preparations for their opening autumn Test have been blighted by injuries and Sky Bet offer 9/1 that they win all three of their matches against Australia, Argentina and New Zealand.
