LATVIA’s Vaira Vike-Freiberga has emerged as a threat to Tony’s Blair’s hopes of winning the role of European President say bookmakers William Hill who make her a 16/1 shot after she revealed her intentions of standing. Hills have lengthened Tony Blair’s odds from 8/11 favourite initially to 5/1 2nd favourite behind Belgium’s Herman Van Rompuy, at 4/5. ‘Mr Blair has gone from being regarded as a sure thing for the role to someone struggling for support as his bandwagon has slowed down’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe. Hills also make Jan Peter Balkenende a 6/1 third favourite.
