A total of 28 horses have been left in at the five-day stage for the Totesport Trophy and Spirit River heads the market with the sponsors at 11/2.
Most of the market principals have been left in the race – for which Blue Bajan currently heads the weights – but Philip Hobbs has decided not to run his crack novice Menorah with Cape Tribulation, Tasheba and Micheal Flips also missing.
Gary Moore has won the last two runnings of the race and he relies on Harry Tricker – the current 7/1 second-favourite with the sponsors – as well as Numide and First Avenue whilst David Pipe also holds a strong hand with Ronaldo des Mottes, Mamlook and Mutual Friend.
‘Both Nicky Henderson and Gary Moore know what it takes to win a Totesport Trophy and it’s not surprising to see them both represented at the head of the market,’ said Totesport spokesman George Primarolo.
‘Both of Henderson’s horses in the shape of Spirit River and Stravinsky Dance were gambled on when the market first opened whilst the form of Harry Tricker’s last outing behind Khyber Kim has been well advertised since.’
Spirit River and Ronaldo des Mottes have been the two horses that have come in for the most support over the past few weeks, having both been available at 14/1 when the sponsors opened their book.
