The MLB play-offs are under way and the New York Yankees are clear favourites after winning their first game 7-2 against the Minnesota Twins thanks to home runs from Derek Jeter and Hideki Matsui and two RBI’s (runs batted in) from Alex Rodriguez. The Yankees are 7/4 favourites for the World Series, while the Twins are deemed least likely to win it at 28/1.

Defending Champions the Philadelphia Phillies are next favourites at 5/1 after beating the Colorado Rockies 5-1. Raul Ibanez was the star of the game with his two RBI’s and Jayson Werth and Ryan Howard also added one each. Colorado are priced at 20/1 for the title.

The Los Angeles Dodgers won their opening post-season game against the St. Louis Cardinals 5-3, and are now priced at 7/1 to take the Phillies’ title this year. A two run homer from Matt Kemp was the difference between the Dodgers and the Cardinals, who are now 8/1 for the World Series.

The Los Angeles Angels and the Boston Red Sox face each other in the final series of the first round of the play-offs. The Angels are 8/1 while the Red Sox are third favourites for the tournament at 11/2.

This year’s World Series starts on the 28th of October and finishes on the 5th of November.
