NFL Week 6 betting – New York Giants vs New Orleans Saints

Posted in NFL Football, Sports on October 17, 2009 @ 3:30 pm by Harry Maude

Two of the favourites for the Superbowl play tonight, with the New Orleans Saints hosting the New York Giants. The Giants are currently 5-0 whilst the Saints are also unbeaten on 4-0. The Saints’ home advantage means that they are 3 point favourites for the game, but 79% of the money has gone against them to cover the spread.

The money line is at -175 (bet $175 to make $100 profit) for the Saints and at +160 for the Giants. The Giants have been heavily backed here as well with 97% of bettors’ money backing them to win.

The Over / Under line is at 47 points for the game and 83% of the money has been bet on the over side. The Saints have gone under the last two times they played the Giants but in their last 16 home games they have been over in eleven.

The sides last played in 2006, when the Saints thrashed the Giants 30-7 in New York. The Saints also covered the spread on seven of their eight home games last season, but in the past three seasons they have only covered on twelve of their 25 games at home. The Giants record away on artificial is good, with them covering the spread on eight of their last eleven games. As underdog the Giants have also covered on 16 of their last 22 games, whilst the Saints record as favourite is less good- they have only covered on 14 of their last 28 games.

The Giants are currently the 7/1 favourites for the Superbowl, followed closely by the Saints at 15/2. The Indianapolis Colts are also at 15/2.
