English Premiership – Arsenal vs Tottenham

Posted in English Premiership, Soccer, Sports on October 31, 2009 @ 11:00 am by Harry Maude

Arsenal and Spurs fans will be gearing up towards what looks to be the most competitive North London derby in recent years. Both matches last season ended in draws, with Aaron Lennon scoring a dramatic late equaliser to draw 4-4 and the other ending 0-0. Spurs have not beaten Arsenal in the league since 1999 but only goal difference separates the two teams at the moment.

Arsenal are favourites for the match at 8/13 (bet £130 to make £80 profit) whilst Spurs are priced at 5/1. The draw is at 3/1.

Dutch maestro Robin van Persie is favourite to open the scoring at 9/2, followed by Eduardo and Andrey Arshavin at 6/1. Nicklas Bendtner and Carlos Vela are next at 13/2 and 8/1.

Spurs are missing much of the attacking force which has made them such a threat this season, with Luka Modric still missing with his broken leg, and Aaron Lennon likely to miss out and Jermain Defoe suspended. Robbie Keane is their best hope to open the scoring at 9/1, followed by Roman Pavlyuchenko and Peter Crouch both at 10/1.

Arsene Wenger’s side are 13/8 to be winning at half time and full time and draw / Arsenal is at 4/1. Draw / draw is at 6/1 with Tottenham / Tottenham at 11/1.

The bookmakers have made a 2-1 win for the Gunners the favourite result at 17/2, followed by a 1-1 draw at 8/1. A 2-0 Arsenal win is at 9/1, with a 1-0 win at 10/1.

Spurs will try to remember the Carling Cup match in 2008 when they obliterated Arsenal 5-1, to try to win away at Arsenal – a feat they have not accomplished since 1993. Arsenal are 5/1 to win the Premiership this season, whilst Spurs are 6/1 to break into the top four this season.
