World no. 1 Roger Federer returns to his hometown Basel to play in the Swiss Indoors after missing the Japan and China events through fatigue. Federer is bidding for a fourth successive win here, and the top seed looks to have an easy route to the semi-final.
Federer is a heavy favourite for the tournament, priced at 4/6 (bet $60 to make $40 profit). His main threat for the title comes from world no. 3 Novak Djokovic who is priced at 5/2.
The other contenders are Croatian Marin Cilic and Spaniard Fernando Gonzalez who are both at 16/1, Federer’s fellow Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka at 25/1and Phillipe Kohlschreiber and Radek Stephanek at 33/1.
Federer is 1/25 favourite for his opening match against Olivier Rochus, and is 2/9 to win the match in straight sets. Federer’s head to head against Rochus currently stands at 6-0, and this year’s Wimbledon and French Open champion will be confident of making it 7-0.
Other players are playing in the Valencia Open instead of in Basel, but most players will convene at the Paris Masters before the top eight ranked players go to London to contest the World Tour Finals at the end of the month.
